Urdaibai Bird Center

Urdaibai Bird Center is a space open to the public. A great bird research centre and a privileged observatory of the tideland, it is ultimately a great live museum of nature where birds set the course. An obligatory stop for ornithology lovers and for all those who enjoy the spectacle of nature.

It is located in Gautegiz Arteaga, in the very heart of the Reserve, and has some amazing views.

It is a centre managed by the Aranzadi Sciences Society, which is engaged in scientific research and dissemination on birds, their migrations and the habitats where they live.

Enjoy the telescopes at the viewpoint. The staff will show you where the birds are.

Urdaibai Bird Center also provides the public with two bird observatories, with free access open every day with the exception of Tuesdays. One in Orueta and another in Ozollo. Accessible by foot from the centre.

  • Open every day. From 11:00 to 19:00. Rest of the year, closed Monday
MARCH TO JUNE
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 11:00 to 19:00.
  • Tuesday to Friday: 11:00 to 16:00.
SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 11:00 to 19:00. Tuesday to Friday: 11:00 to 14:00.
NOVEMBER TO MARCH
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 11:00 to 17:00
