GERNIKA PEACE MUSEUM

The bombing of Gernika took place on 26 April 1937.

The bombs and fire reduced almost all the buildings in the city to rubble, leaving behind multitudes of deaths.

That tragic event turned Gernika into a symbol and universal emblem of peace.

In this interactive museum you’ll experience a realistic audiovisual recreation of the bombing, and you’ll be moved by stories told by the survivors. The goal is to spread the culture of peace and respect for human rights.

Picasso’s “Guernica” is also present in the museum to cast a gaze on the current state of peace in the world.
