In the Ercilla tower overlooking the old port of Bermeo you can find the Fisherman’s Museum, one of very few in the world dedicated to showing the history, techniques, and way of life of fishermen.

Different kinds of boats, fishing techniques, brotherhoods, auxiliary trades are shown in this museum. And, of course, you can learn about the importance of whaling, in which the Basques were pioneers, especially in the 16th century when they were the best whalers in all of Europe.
