EREÑO
Its quarries, today in disuse, were used by the Romans back in the 1st century CE, and have produced one of the most precious and famous kinds of marble, known as Red Ereño, which can be found in many buildings around the world.
However, this small village surrounded by nature and mountains has several places that you shouldn’t pass by.
The first is the beautiful San Miguel church, built on a Gothic-Renaissance base. The second one is a little further away, specifically 448 metres above sea level. It’s the San Miguel de Ereñozar hermitage, a spectacular place and one of the most stunning scenic overlooks from which you can enjoy one of the best views over the Mundaka estuary.
