This is a beautiful mountain setting that is part of the Primitive Way of the Way of St. James and is among the decisory places in Bizkaia. It’s common to see pilgrims walking down the trails. Morga is made up of neighbourhoods with scattered farmhouses and numerous manor houses and houses with coats of arms that date back to the middle ages and the struggles between family lines.
San Martín Church
This Renaissance church founded in the 10th century and rebuilt in 1580 is located in the Meakaur neighbourhood. It has a beautiful Mannerist portal. Tradition says it that the eighth Lord of Biscay, Manso López, was buried in its interior.
San Esteban de Gerekiz Hermitage
In the hills of Gerekiz, this hermitage bears witness to the presence of the Romans in the area, due to the tombs and tombstones with perfectly preserved inscriptions that were found when it was rebuilt in 1770.
Zorrozua Palace
Its style is a precursor to many local country houses throughout the 18th century.
